My 1st EVER Yosemite rock climb!

Описание: I'm almost embarrassed to say that I've never climbed in Yosemite before today. I only live 6 hours away, but Yosemite has this reputation of being really sandbagged and runout and I've been intimidated! Plus, with so many amazing closer spots like Pine Creek and Owen's River Gorge, I've just never made it up there to climb.

That changed TODAY!

I turned 30 on August 3rd and I wanted to be out in the wild doing something really badass. Tuolumne was the perfect place with favorable weather, pine trees, and breathtaking multipitches.

After 6.5 hours of driving, the FIRST thing I did was meet up with my friend Andy and start up a 4-pitch roadside climb on Stately Pleasure Dome called Hermaphrodite Flake (5.7) with the Boltway (5.8) finish. It was the toughest trad grade I've led on granite, so I was definitely nervous, but stoked to kick off the 3-day adventure with such a picturesque climb!

My thoughts? I think the whole thing was exhausting for the whole body in the flake, and a calf-buster on Boltway, but it all felt 5.7. Or J-tree 5.5.... and I'm so against sandbagging, but Boltway (5.8) was easier than 5.6 slab in Joshua Tree, so don't let the grade scare you, go get on it!!
