Formation and Early Years: Founded by pianist Janusz Grzywacz and vocalist/saxophonist Marek Stryszowski. They debuted at the Gitariada '71 festival.
Rise to Fame: Their debut album, Modern Pentathlon (1976), was a massive success in Poland, selling over 100,000 copies. The album is considered a landmark in Polish jazz, featuring the first use of a sequencer in Polish music.
Musical Style: Their music was characterized as a blend of jazz-rock, funk, and free jazz. They were often compared to international acts like Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Return to Forever.
Key Personnel: While lineups changed, the core duo of Janusz Grzywacz and Marek Stryszowski appeared on all of their albums. Other notable members included bassists Krzysztof Ścierański and Krzysztof Olesiński, and guitarists Paweł Ścierański and Ryszard Styła.
International Recognition: The band played over 1,000 concerts, including prestigious festivals like the Jazz Yatra in India (1978) and the Zurich Jazz Festival.
Later Years and Legacy: The band remained active through the 1980s, releasing albums like Quasimodo (1979) and Anatomy Lesson (1986). They largely stopped active, regular performing around 1990-1991, but held special reunion concerts, including a 25th-anniversary show in 1996.
