Описание: On December 14, 2012, Victoria Leigh Soto, a 27-year-old first-grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, showed extraordinary bravery during one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. When gunman Adam Lanza entered the school and began shooting, Soto acted immediately to protect her students. She hid them inside a closet and cabinets, telling them to stay quiet no matter what. When Lanza reached her classroom and demanded to know where the children were, she lied, saying they had been taken elsewhere. Some children attempted to escape, and Soto shielded them with her body, taking the bullets meant for them. She died protecting her students, but thanks to her sacrifice, many survived. Today, she is remembered as a true hero, with schools, scholarships, and memorials honoring her courage.
