Tagong, Sichuan At 1000 Mantras A Second: Tibet in China 2

Описание: After a 3 hour van ride into the mountains, we arrived in Tagong, a small town in the Garze grasslands. The chilly mountain air did not keep up from exploring the area. We hiked the hills, finding semi-nomadic yak herders and an insane amount of yaks. Yaks are a huge part of life in Tibet. They're slowly becoming one of my favorite animals.
We also visited the Tagong Monastery, where we observed the prayer wheels in action. Many people come out everyday and do a lap around the monastery, spinning large wheels as they do it. Every wheel spun is the equivalent to saying the 1000 or so mantras that are written on the wheels. They're called mani wheels and, even if it seems like cheating a bit, the process is beautiful to watch.
