Moses was not allowed to enter the Promised Land (Canaan) because he disobeyed God at the waters of Meribah. Instead of speaking to the rock as God commanded, Moses struck it twice in anger, taking credit for bringing out the water. This act showed a lack of faith and holiness before the people.
The rock from which water flowed represents Christ, the spiritual Rock. Just as the rock was struck once to give life-giving water, Jesus was struck once through His sacrifice on the cross to give living water — eternal life — to all who believe. Therefore, the story of Moses and the rock beautifully foreshadows Christ’s redemptive work.

Musa ko Parmeshwar ne Kanān (Pratigyā ki Bhūmi) me pravesh karne ki anumati isliye nahi di, kyunki usne Meribah ke jal ke sthān par Parmeshwar ki āgyā ka ullanghan kiya. Parmeshwar ne kaha tha ki “chattān se bol,” lekin Musa ne gusse me use do bār chhadi se maara aur kaha, “kya hum tumhe pānī nikal kar denge?” Isse usne mahimā khud par le li aur vishvās ki kami dikhāi.
Jis chattān se pānī niklā, vah Prabhu Yeshu Masiḥ kā pratik hai. Jaise vah chattān ek bār māri gayi aur sabko jeevan dene wālā pānī diyā, waise hi Yeshu ek bār kruś par maarā gayā, tāki vah sabko ātmik jal — arthāt anant jīvan — de sake. Yeh kahānī Yeshu ke uddhār ke kārya kā pavitra chitra hai.
