Come spend a fun day with me in Perth Australia as we go to a water park, make homemade sushi, yoga, painting and more!
Hope you enjoy and if you want to try the sushi recipe here is what you do to make the sushi rice.
Sushi Rice recipe:
4 x cups of sushi rice
4 x cups of COLD water
1 x cups of rice wine vinegar
4 x tablespoons of sugar
1/2 x tsp of salt
*(recipe is 4 parts rice to 1 part vinegar always)*
METHOD:
1. Wash the rice 3-4 times until liquid coming off runs nearly clear
2. Pour water over the rice and leave it to soak for 30 mins
3. Measure the water into the pan with the rice and cover with a lid and bring rice to boil (see steam coming out of lid) and immediately turn it down to the lowest setting. Put timer on for 8 minutes.
5. When the timer goes off remove the rice from the heat LEAVING THE LID ON and let it rest for 20 minutes
6. In a separate bowl stir together vinegar, sugar and salt until it has all dissolved
7. After 20 mins, move rice into large salad bowl/ dish (the wider the better), be gentle when doing this.
8. Hold the spatula/ spoon under the bowl with the vinegar mix in and shake this mixture into the rice over the spatula so that it evenly distributes it everywhere.
9. DO NOT CHOP THE RICE, scrape it sideways with a spatula to mix everything in very gently. Once done fold the rice, again gently as you dont want it going mushy. Turn the bowl and repeat this step (2 times total, more= VERY sticky rice)
10. Spread rice evenly and let it cool down with a damp cloth over the top for about an hour (NOTE we still used the rice whilst warm- needs to be left for about 30 mins though otherwise vinegar will not have soaked into the rice)
