This video documents the road condition and waypoints when travelling Mahad - Varandh Ghat - Pune.
There is a taboo amongst bikers that the Varandh ghat is very broken and with lots of off road patches. I wanted to see just how bad it is so I took my "ADV" out to test the roads.
Key waypoints:
00:00:00 - Indian oil petrol pump
00:00:38 - NH66 exit at Mahad
00:10:14 - Start of Varandh Ghat
00:20:10 - Varandh Ghat view point (photo point)
00:23:20 - Rest stop for food/water (when coming from Pune)
00:34:34 - The off-road begin
00:51:50 - Deoghar Bridge (photo point)
00:50:30 - Offroad ends
NOTE: The ghat is still barren in terms of shops and network coverage, so plan your stops and group-up points before and after the ghat.
This is much better than last year. A lot of road construction has completed and work seems to be on going. The gravel traps can be a bit uneasy for new riders or sports bikes, but if you can deal with it, you can definitely go. I mean the Avenger did it without issues.
