TEETAR / BATAIR / QUAIL FRY is a very popular and special recipe which is served generally in lavish weddings and a few special restaurants and small villages, these days teetar farming has become very common and teetars are easily available in the market. teetars are also available in supermarkets as Quail. This recipe can also be used to make batair fry, quail fry or teetar .
In my Recipe on SaraCooksForYou i have used a differen method of cooking to make sure the teetars are soft and juicy.
To make the Teetar fry i have marinated them with the following spices ;
Teetar/ Batair - 6 - 8
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Red chilli powder - to taste
Black pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Kasuri methi - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
red color - a pinch
oil - 2 tbsp for marination
Oil for frying
Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
curds - 2 tsp
METHOD;
Marinate the Teetars with all the masalas, leave it in the fridge overnight or for atleast 6 hours . Remove the marinated Teetars from the fridge and cook it on the stove for about 10 - 15 minutes till they become soft while tossing them in the masala.Curds can be added in the marination or while cooking the teetars . TAKE SOME OIL IN THE PAN AND THEN SHALLOW FRY THE TEETARS and serve them hot with lemon slices, onions and sprinkle chaat masala.
