Jennifer’s Body & Priscilla are two of the strongest examples of how costume designers are able to communicate female agency through costuming. Costume design studies are very limited in academia, despite its powerful storytelling capabilities. Using feminist film criticism, Lacanian psychoanalysis, and Foucault’s theories of power and knowledge, this analysis dives into the costumes that define the journeys of Priscilla and Jennifer.
