Although this hugely popular Neapolitan song has been attributed to the Eduardo de Capua(1865-1917), Alfredo Mazzuchi (1878-1972) is generally acknowledged as a co-composer. The title translated is "O my sunshine" & is the story of a star-crossed lover who declares his sweetheart's countenance more beautiful than the sun in the sky.
What a beautiful thing is a sunny day,
The air is serene after a storm,
The air so fresh it feels like a celebration,
What a beautiful thing is a sunny day!
But another sun even more beauteous, O my sweetheart,
My own sun, shines from your face!
This sun, my own sun, is in front of you!
This is another one of Charles's multi-track recordings that turned out to be really good. In it he uses lush jazz chords in the slow section & concludes it with an exciting bellows shake.
