Taiwan is the world champion for semiconductors – TSMC makes two thirds of the world's microchips, and its profit rose 57% to a record high in the last quarter of 2024. Chip production accounts for a quarter of Taiwan's economy. Ray Yang, strategy consultant at Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute, says AI will further boost Taiwan’s semiconductor industry.
