The Chardonnay varietal originated in Burgundy, France.
Chardonnay is the most widely distributed white wine grape in the world.
Chardonnay in itself is considered to be a still wine. However, it is also considered to be a staple in sparkling wines around the world. This is mainly because chardonnay grapes are often used in the creation of sparkling wines, such as Champagne.


I will be celebrating today with a sparkling Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine from @schramsberg.

Now I know you’re probably looking at my post and saying Nikki it’s National Chardonnay Day, so why are you celebrating with a Blanc de Blancs wine?
Let’s discuss it!

Blanc de Blancs, translated from French, means literally “white from whites”. This refers to a sparkling wine made from white or more specifically, green grapes. The term originated in the Champagne region of France where the wine is nearly always made from 100% Chardonnay grapes.

🥂tasting notes:
Varietal: 100% Chardonnay
Appellation: 70% Napa, 29% Sonoma, 1% Marin
ABV: 12.3%
Aromas of ripe green apple, pear, sweet spice and buttered brioche, ginger, stone fruit and coriander, grilled lemon and orange peel.
🍽️: crab cakes, char broil oysters, gouda cheese, parmesan fries, parmesan chips(my favorite is the Target brand), brunch &fried calamari.
