Supreme Court Verdict After 24 Years in Actress Pratyusha Death Case

Описание: After 24 years, the Supreme Court of India has delivered its final verdict in the high-profile death case of Telugu actress Pratyusha.

A bench comprising Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Manmohan upheld the conviction of Gudipati Siddhartha Reddy and directed him to surrender within four weeks.

The court clarified that the charge of rape was not proven in the case. However, it confirmed the findings related to poisoning. The case dates back to February 24, 2002, when 22-year-old Pratyusha allegedly consumed pesticide along with Siddhartha Reddy. She died on the way to the hospital, while Reddy survived.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had earlier registered a case against Reddy under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code for abetment of suicide.

The Supreme Court also dismissed Reddy’s plea seeking acquittal, as well as the petition filed by Pratyusha’s mother challenging aspects of the case.

This landmark ruling brings closure to one of the most debated cases in the Telugu film industry.
