How to store redcurrant jelly? How long can I leave it at room temperature? Can it be stored in the refrigerator? Can I store it in the freezer to preserve it for longer? In this video, we bring some tips on how to store redcurrant jelly to prevent it from spoiling too quickly.
Tips for storing redcurrant jelly
Commercially-produced redcurrant jelly, while unopened, can be kept at room temperature in a dry, dark, and cool place. It will last for about two years at room temperature without spoiling or losing its properties.
But it is important to pay attention to the label, as there are some bought in stores that do not contain many preservatives and last a much shorter time, about five to six months. Therefore, check the label to make sure you haven't bought one of these.
Commercially-produced redcurrant jelly, after being opened, should be kept in its original, tightly closed packaging in the refrigerator. Once opened, it can last up to a year in the refrigerator. But be careful, several Brazilian brands last only 30 days after opening in the refrigerator; always check what is written on yours and consume it within this interval. After 30 days, the chance of mold appearing is very high.
In the case of homemade redcurrant jelly, it can be kept at room temperature while unopened, provided you have carried out the process of sterilizing the jars. It usually lasts for a year unopened at room temperature. If it has been opened, store the homemade redcurrant jelly in the refrigerator and consume it within one month at the most.
