Hi, my name is Mariana Vieira, I'm the founder and chef at Brigadeiro Bakery where we make this beautiful little truffles, original from Brazil.
They gained a lot of popularity in the 40's and since then they have been enjoying this cult and at every party in Brazil they have to have these little guys.
This is not a truffle. This is much more creamier and rich. This is not a caramel because it's so much softer.
This is Brigadeiro.

I started Brigadeiro Bakery about 4 years ago from my apartment kitchen.

My wife Mariana started doing a few dinner parties and she being from Brazil she always included Brigadeiros on the menus as desserts.
And she was surprised to see that a few people started calling her after the dinner parties asking just for the dessert.
The business started picking up and orders started to come in and at some point my house was just filled with Brigadeiro boxes because she had been working the whole night trying to make Brigadeiros.

We moved to Comodo Restaurant in Soho, it was October of 2012 and we have been operating here since then.

And there she was able to increase productivity and start working with more people.

Before start working here at Brigadeiro Bakery I was just a client and I thought making Brigadeiros was very simple because we all know how to make it, or we think we do.
Mariana is very perfectionist about the Brigadeiros and how to roll them, how to cook them and I had to learn all this process to make this business go forward and grow bigger.

I believe in them because they've done some much in the small space we have here.
Mariana's always creating new flavors and truly very passionate. It's beautiful to see.

After almost 2 years working within Comodo we thought it was time to have our own space.
That's the step we're taking now, opening this little shop which will be just around the corner.
What we want to do here is just have a beautiful counter with all the Brigadeiros. We'll have our team rolling the Brigadeiros fresh for you every day.

Brigadeiros are for everybody. It's gonna be the new cupcakes or the new macaroon.

I think it is time Brigadeiros get more exposure, because I think… kinda like ice cream, everybody who has one pretty much likes one, and falls in love with one. There's love and passion behind it.

Our philosophy at Brigadeiro Bakery is to share the love with Brigadeiros with New York and beyond. So we're inviting all New Yorkers to visit our store, try our products and share the love with us.
