During our trip to Muscat, Oman, my wife and I went through one of the most intense and stressful experiences we’ve ever had while travelling abroad. What started as a normal day at the Royal Opera House suddenly became the scariest 25 minutes of our entire holiday.

Between a language barrier with a cab driver, National Oman Day traffic, and a situation we never expected, everything went from calm to chaotic in seconds. We had no idea how quickly a simple travel moment could turn into a full-blown crisis, especially in a country where we didn’t speak the language.

In this travel storytime, I’m sharing exactly what happened that day in Muscat, how things escalated, and how we found ourselves running around trying to fix something we didn’t even realise had gone wrong at first.
