Meribel Mottaret Winter Escape: La Hameau to Resort Center Walking Tour

Описание: Meribel Mottaret is the highest-altitude resort in the Meribel Valley and is the most central of all three valleys, sitting at 1750 meters above ski level. It's a great staging ground at the heart of Les 3 Vallées, the world's largest interconnected ski area, with a claimed 600 kilometers of ski runs.

I filmed this video to introduce would-be visitors to the liveable area of Mottaret, and start toward the top of La Hameau, just next to the Perdrix slope. From here, I descend paths and steps while walking between the resort's many chalets before reaching Mottaret's commercial center and lift base. The video ends at the top of the Truite slope, which you can follow to the (much larger, but lower altitude) Meribel Centre.

I first visited in 2017 for my first alpine sports holiday and had an absolute disaster of a time trying to snowboard. I did not think I would ever return — either to Mottaret or to the slopes — but I did this year as a much more confident skier. I enjoyed it very much and was even able to make it across all three valleys in one afternoon. That's a huge part of why Meribel is such a great resort: you can see so much with a 3 Vallées ski pass and still make it home by the time lifts close.

Food recommendations: I have two. Restaurant Côte Brune in Mottaret's commercial center has some quite critical reviews on Google, but my friends and I came here and we thought it was great. We ordered fondue and raclette and had a lovely time. I'd also recommend visiting Le Pain Des Alpages; we got breakfast for our apartment there most days, and the pastries are really good. The service is excellent and friendly, and the prices aren't bad for how central it is.
