Indian BLDC motor & Smart motor+vehicle controller for light duty EV (e-rickshaw/Toto, auto, etc.)

Описание: 1) Details of project, motivation, and benefit:
This project was sponsored by MeitY(Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) Govt. of India to develop indigenous technology for the development of electric subsystems for electric rickshaws. Presently, the annual sales of three wheelers having propulsion (non-pedal) are around 5-6 lakhs, and recently, it has been reported that the sales of electric rickshaws have exceeded the sales of engine powered electric rickshaws. Moreover, the electric subsystems in these electric rickshaws are mostly imported from neighboring countries which lack Indian certifications and are not made as per the requirement of Indian conditions. This leads to reduced jobs and skills in the manufacturing sector greatly affecting the Indian economy. Hence, by creating indigenously developed electric products for electric rickshaws not only can we bring the required skills but also will produce jobs, improve the economy and replenish the manufacturing sector which otherwise would have been lost to neighboring countries.
In this project we have developed an electric motor and a smart motor cum vehicle controller which is having better performance than the off-the shelf available motor and controller usually used for electric rickshaws. The motor has better efficiency than off-the shelf available motors and better speed drop characteristics. The motor cum vehicle controller is a unique technology that is designed to give better performance, safety, reliability and comfort for not just the motor but also for the vehicle.


2) When was this developed? are they certified?
It has been recently developed. The motor cum vehicle controller technology is patented, while the motor has passed AIS041 and IP67 certifications from ICAT.

3) Availability of this technology?
At present motor and motor controller for e-rickshaw are imported from neighboring countries. The drawbacks are as follows:
a. No proper specifications/certifications for Indian conditions
b. Open loop controller
c. No regenerative braking
d. No safety, comfort and efficient features
e. Absence of range prediction and fault status..
Our technology addresses these drawbacks and hence, can be considered as an advanced version of the technology. We are now willing to share this technology with interested industries or vehicle manufactures.

5) What we finally want? This technology to spread out to as many erickshaw (or light duty EV) manufacturing industries as possible for their large scale adoption and commercialization for the benefit of all.


6) Involvement of Ministry in the project The Ministry (MeitY) has sponsored and mentored this project so that this technology can be used by the maximum number of industries, as possible.

8) How one can acquire this technology?
Option-1: Buy paying license fee (to be decided mutually) they can get all the design details and rights to use these products and sale them. Option-2: By agreeing to pay royalty fee (% to be decided mutually) on the profit to be made from these products Note: If require some training/hand-holding can be arranged subjected to additional cost.


9) Scope for Improvement?
Yes. IIT KGP and BMI can help the third parties to add new features and to improve present functionalities.
