The purpose of a residential program is the next step down from a detox process. The purpose of a residential program is to introduce skills and to begin the process of learning how to live your life without substances. So, a lot of mindfulness skills. How do I learn how to be okay in my body? The second or interpersonal effectiveness skills, your life is made up of relationships, whether good or bad, how do I learn skills to be more effective in my relationships with the people I love, with the people I work with? The third is emotional regulation, which everybody kind of needs help with. How do I learn to regulate those things that I feel? And then lastly, is distress tolerance. When bad things happen, how do I learn to tolerate those distressful situations and remain sober and successful in the midst of life still happening?

And we want to make sure that people can learn that recovery is not, it's not bad, it's fun. So, there's a lot of pro-social things that we do for clients. We want to make sure that they're having fun with each other, that they're meeting friends. There's ping pong tables, pool tables, we do exercise classes. There's yoga on site for clients to learn how to have fun again. So, the residential program and the clinical part of that is really fantastic, but also the amenities that we have here at the Robert Alexander Center to make sure that you feel comfortable, that you're well taken care of, and that you're learning things you need to learn to be successful.
