Congress Protest Planned as Amit Shah Reaches Pune; Four Youth Congress Workers Detained

Описание: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Pune late Friday night ahead of his visit to attend the Lokmanya Tilak National Award ceremony, even as the Congress announced a protest against his visit and police detained four Youth Congress workers.

The detained workers were identified as Akshay Jain, Gaurav Balande, Saddam Shaikh and Raju Thombre. They were taken into custody by Deccan Police and brought to the Deccan police station.

In a video shared after their detention, the four alleged that they were taken into custody without any prior notice despite having police permission to stage a protest during Shah's visit.

Shah was received at Pune airport by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and other senior officials were also present.

During his visit, Shah is scheduled to attend the Lokmanya Tilak National Award ceremony, where National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will be honoured with the Lokmanya Tilak National Award by the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak Trust.

Meanwhile, the Congress has announced a protest under the leadership of city president Prashant Jagtap, Deepti Chaudhari and former MLA Mohan Joshi. The BJP has warned that it will respond to the protest, raising the possibility of political confrontation during Shah's visit.
