Описание: Extract of a documentary-style film on the rise and fall of Germany in the 1920s and 1930s as a leading manufacturer and exporter of quality goods, and how West Germany regained this market position in the post-war era with the aid of the Marshall Plan.

Currency reform. A box full of wads of bank notes. A man counts out notes to a woman. She stuffs them into her purse. People peer into an ironmonger's window. Several close ups of the window which is full of pans, irons and other metal household goods. A woman looks at handbags in the window of a leather goods store. People sign up for work. A clocking-in machine and clocking in cards. Factory chimneys billow smoke in the distance. Various roof-top views of a large industrial site. Several shots of motorcycle production lines at a BMW factory, the narrator tells us the bikes are incomplete due to missing components that Germany cannot produce.

Montage of various shots highlighting the benefits the Plan is bringing: locomotives hauling freight, goods waggons and containers - a sign on one of the trains states 22 000 goods waggons have been provided through the Marshall Plan. Several long shots of freight trains once again able to deliver raw materials throughout Germany. The motorcycle factory is now able to manufacture complete bikes. A row of gleaming brand-new BMW motorcycles. Several shots of raw materials being mixed and processed. Finished merchandise is ready for shipping to Holland and the U.S.A. Germany's post-war exports: a "world famous" camera, machines, a toy Volkswagen Beetle for children and the real car for adults, typewriters, bicycles, radio valves, gloves, stockings and tights, furs, ships, a flotilla of ships, wallpaper designs, fine crockery, dolls, a pedigree dog being weighed on a scales, hourglasses, pencils, clothes and other garments. The voiceover draws our attention to the refugees we saw earlier on. They are now making a living from their world famous trades such as jewellery making in the factories of Germany. Various shots of gems, pearls, bracelets. Several shots of production of raw materials such as coal.
