Join me Mining, Finding & Looking at some Beautiful Koroit Opal!!!

Описание: About a week ago I was mining here at The Comet in Koroit and found some beautiful material. This video shows part of that adventure, including the mining process and then looking at some of the pieces after I brought them up to the surface.

In this video I try to show what opal mining is really like. It was an uncomfortably hot day on the surface, with too many flies. I had trouble with the generator. And I was able to find some wonderful opal inside some solid dark brown pieces of ironstone.

The material I found is no longer here at the mine. It’s been shipped back home to me in the USA.

In this video you can watch me removing the ironstone and opal from the wall. Often when this material has just been mined, it doesn’t look very exciting. It’s in brown rocks and can be covered with dirt and other minerals that have seeped down into the cracks over millions of years. But after I brought these rocks to the surface and cleaned them up, they showed some interesting color. It takes some experience to learn to spot interesting bits of color. The real beauty will be exposed after I slice them and cut them.

After I return to the USA, I hope to be posting videos of me slicing and cutting this material.
