On the sacred occasion of the first Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, a special ceremony will be held at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar, on August 24. To commemorate this historic event, the shrine will be adorned with over 100 tons of flowers.

The flowers for the decoration have been brought not only from across India — including Kolkata, Kerala, Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh — but also from abroad, with shipments arriving from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Bangkok, Holland, New Zealand, Kenya, and South Africa.

More than 100 skilled artisans from Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai have arrived in Amritsar to carry out the elaborate floral work. They are being assisted by hundreds of volunteer devotees, working tirelessly day and night to complete the decoration.

This year’s decoration will include floral domes, chandeliers, garlands, and artistic patterns, along with special designs representing the Khanda and Ik Onkar symbols. Marigolds and green leaves are being used extensively, blended with exotic flowers from abroad to create garlands and intricate motifs.

The celebration also holds deep historical significance, as it was Baba Buddha Ji, the first head granthi, who performed the parkash of Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. The holy scripture was compiled by the Fifth Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, at Sri Ramsar Sahib, Amritsar.
