PART ELEVEN – Kei a wai
Kia ora koutou. In this video we’re looking at a new rerepātai used to ask who has something using kei a wai.
You may remember the kupu wai from earlier videos where we used ko wai to ask who. In this lesson, we build on that knowledge and use kei a wai to ask who has. This is a very common and useful question structure in everyday kōrero.
You’ll learn how kei a wai works with:
Pūtohu – te, he, ngā, tētahi, ētahi
Pūriro (possessive pronouns) – tāku, tōku, āku, ōku and more
Pūhea – tēnei, tērā, ēnei, ērā
Tūingoa – the things we’re asking about
You’ll also learn how to answer these questions correctly
We’ll finish by building full question-and-answer examples so you can see how everything fits together. It’s important to note that kei a wai doesn’t mean ownership — just that someone has something at that time.
Hei konā rā. I hope you find this video helpful.
Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui.
