Jakob's law is one of the 20 'Laws of UX' (https://lawsofux.com/).
The Laws of UX is a collection of the maxims and principles that designers can consider when building high quality and engaging user interfaces.
Jakob's law states that users spend most of their time on other sites. This means that users prefer your site to 'work' the same way as all the other sites they already know. (Don't make me think.)
Users will transfer expectations they have built around one familiar product to another that appears similar
By leveraging existing mental models, we can create superior user experiences in which the user can focus on their task rather than having to 'learn your version' of things.
This concept is also referred to as The Law Of Familiarity.
