then to the River Dove and over to Narrowdale and Alstonefield onto Milldale and the famous Dovedale with its caves, spires, unique rocks and the stepping stones then to the village Ilam and finishing at the gothic mansion of Ilam Hall, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilam_Park a magnificent building that was saved from the scrap heap as it was originally going to be demolished in the 1930's but fortunately saved by the owners of the chocolate empire Cadburys and eventually given to the Youth Hostel Association and the National Trust

Hartington - Wolfscote Dale - Narrowdale - Alstonefield - Milldale - Dovedale and the stepping stones - Ilam - Ilam Hall

Route in Detail:
Starting at Hartington Hall (YHA) in Hartington, Derbyshire and walking to Ilam Hall (YHA) in Ilam, Derbyshire
From Hartington we take Leisure Lane and Reynards Lane to onto the footpath to Wolfescote Dale, cross the River Dove and take the path to Narrowdale, afterwards continue on footpath to Alstonefield, walk through the village and onto the footpath to Milldale, cross the River Dove again, and follow the Dovedale footpath along side the River Dove, passing the numerous sites including, reynards cave, dove holes, lion rock, ilam rock, tissington spires, lovers leap, the famous stepping stones and then down to Dovedale car park, then on the footpath to the Issac Walton Hotel and then the footpath into Ilam, through the village and upto Ilam Hall where we finish this walk for today.
Linear Route
Easy going walk – the river dove can flood in places when had wet weather especially around the stepping stones in dovedale from time to time – family and dog (on lead) friendly
