Sometimes people think Hammond organists are "pretending" to play basslines with their feet - but this is how and why we do it - the keyboard and bass pedals together give a depth and attack that you can't get with the keyboard or pedals alone.
You will definitely need headphones or monitors to hear the different examples.
And yes I take ages to make a point, I'm sorry!
Also yes, we use the pedals for endings, accents and to pedal a note while we're changing settings - not JUST for tapping.
