average day of freshwater fishing in Thorne Bay

Keep in mind I'm a fly-fishing noob so don't take this as the best that could be done here in a day.
My dad and I go to one of my favorite spots known as "meat hole". Don't ask me why because I don't know why its called that either.
I began with my fly rod using a small streamer but only got small nibbles. I then switched to what is known as a hippie-stomper. That seemed to do the trick because I caught several small fishes and even a decent sized fish till the bite died down. I then attempted to use my spinning setup and caught absolutely nothing for a long time. I eventually switched back to the fly and caught what I suspect may be the same fish again because we never moved in the 6 hours of fishing lmao. Nothing crazy just an average decent day of fishing in Thorne Bay.
