State Route 1 (SR 1) is a significant north-south state highway that stretches along the beautiful Pacific coastline of California. Covering a distance of over 656 miles (1,056 km), it holds the title of being the longest state route in the state. Different sections of SR 1 are referred to by various names such as Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), Cabrillo Highway, Shoreline Highway, or Coast Highway. Starting from its southern endpoint at Interstate 5 (I-5) near Dana Point in Orange County, the highway extends all the way to its northern terminus at U.S. Route 101 (US 101) near Leggett in Mendocino County. At certain points, SR 1 overlaps with US 101, notably for a 54-mile (87 km) stretch in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, as well as across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. Recognized as an All-American Road, SR 1 not only offers a picturesque route to numerous coastal attractions but also serves as a major thoroughfare in the Greater Los Angeles Area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and several other urban coastal regions.
