A Brush with Fungi is a compilation of new watercolours produced by the author. Presented in an A4 hardback volume, it illustrates key characteristics of many UK macrofungi. There are more than 400 detailed watercolour paintings of over 250 species of fungi and descriptions of key characteristics next to the illustrations of each species. Several professional mycologists have assisted with editing and guidance.

The foreword by Chris Packham and an introductory section are followed by chapters on each fungal group with the major ones such as the Boletes and Milkcaps treated first. Each species is painted from several angles to show the main features. At the bottom of each page there is information on season, status, habitat and spore colour. An index and Latin index are included at the rear of the book along with details of a new fungus for the UK and 4 pages of illustrations of early sketches.
