This hike explores one of the beautiful hidden waterfalls in the mountains near Dushanbe — Oq Kul waterfall, located near the village of Gusgarf in the Varzob region of Tajikistan.

The route starts from Gusgarf village and passes through small mountain gardens before entering the scenic Wolf Valley. Further along the trail lies a beautiful grove of large plane trees surrounded by streams and mountain water.

From there the path enters Khushkak Gorge, where the main ascent begins. The trail climbs steeply with around 400 meters of elevation gain in about one kilometer, leading to the high point near Pioneer Meadow.

During the hike we also explored the surrounding terrain and discovered another hidden waterfall before reaching the well-known Oq Kul waterfall, often referred to by tourists as Gusgarf Waterfall.

The entire hike took place in light rain, making the trail muddy and slippery in places. Trekking poles were extremely helpful due to clay sections, loose stones and several river crossings.

Spring is the best time to visit this waterfall when the water flow is strongest.
