New York, United States of America.
Various shots of a new device being demonstrated, a kind of early fax machine!
In a laboratory we see a man fitting a small sheet of newspaper into a machine. He then goes on the air, speaking into a radio microphone - presumably reading out a summary of the same story (US Gunboat Off to Nanking).
In a living room we see a woman tuning a button on a radio set as she listens with a man. C/U of the newspaper story moving through the machine as a small photoelectric cell runs over the print. The light variations from the paper are transformed into electrical vibrations and transmitted over the air. Brief L/S of radio transmitter masts.
A smaller device on the receiving set changes the electric currents back into light and the newsprint and picture are printed out on a roll of paper. The woman tears the sheet from the back of their radio set and gives half to the man to read while she sits and reads the other half.
