How Effective Was Cavalry In WWI? #shorts
In this short we ask the question: How Effective Was Cavalry In WWI?
The First World War was a watershed moment in military history, with many describing it as the first industrial war. Marked by huge leaps in mechanized weapons, including, machine guns, artillery weapons and tanks.
Horses and Cavalrymen, being a staple of armies for thousands of years, found themselves in a new type of war and though they were once the pinnacle of speed and decisiveness in an army, in the face of machine guns, they had now become sluggish, easy targets.
But had this made them redundant?
In some ways, yes. But they were still utilised for different tasks, such a reconnaissance, rapid response and exploiting gaps in enemy lines.
