Proposal for Collision Avoidance Mechanism for Trains in Pakistan Railway
1. There are numerous algorithms in place worldwide for Collision Avoidance Mechanism in vehicular technology. These can be customized for the local trains in Pakistan.
2. The proposed solution will work for all modes of operation: auto mode, semi auto mode and manual
3. On top of existing manual/drivers driven trains and signalling systems, the reliability and robustness of the proposed solution will be ensured by two backup systems. a) Wireless LIDAR and radar solutions, b) Image processing solutions and GPS based solutions.
4. Both backup systems will cover the entire 24/7 operations day and night with 100 percent accuracy under strict constraints and boundary conditions.
This will Insha-Allah, help in reducing the train collisions/accidents to greater degree.
