The main building was erected in 1906 by master builder Tisell according to architect Erik Lundroth drawings, and furnished exclusively by Isidor Hörlin It was sold in 1909 to the court administration and was used as a residence for Gustaf V's youngest son Prince Erik until 1914. In 1916, Balingsholm was sold to civil engineer Frank Hirsch. The Hirsch family lived at Balingsholm until 1964 when the farm was sold to Huddinge municipality.
The municipality had plans to subdivide the land and build housing, but those plans were shelved and the farm was instead rented out for party activities. In 1984, the municipality tried to sell Balingsholm to the Soviet embassy, ​​but after fierce protests from the residents of Huddinge, the sale was put out to tender. The tender went to Gerd Gustafzon, who started the conference business that exists there today. In August 2004, the Orrvik family took over the ownership and operation of Balingsholm. Since 2004, the entire facility has been renovated and some parts expanded. Balingsholm has done well as a conference center since its inception in 1985 and has been able to report positive results every year
