LNER Class 801 Azuma Number 801204 Our Planet Livery at speed on the East Coast Main Line

Описание: Built by Hitachi in 2019 at Newton Aycliffe, 801204 is a 9-car "Azuma" electric multiple unit designed for high-capacity, high-speed intercity service on the East Coast Main Line. This unit operates on the 25kV AC overhead system, utilizing a high-efficiency Hitachi IGBT traction system to deliver a total power output of approximately 6,000 hp. It has a maximum service speed of 125 mph and a total unit weight of roughly 427 tonnes.The unit is formed of nine cars, featuring a specialized 801/2 configuration. Measuring approximately 234 metres in length, it provides 611 seats (101 First / 510 Standard). In late 2024, 801204 was officially named "Our Planet" and fitted with a unique, sustainable livery featuring a world-map motif and green-themed branding, replacing the standard LNER red to highlight the environmental benefits of electric rail travel. This was the first train in the UK to use a partially bio-based wrap. Most train liveries use traditional vinyl, which is difficult to recycle. This wrap, produced by 3M and applied by Stewart Signs, uses sustainable materials to reduce the environmental footprint of the branding itself.
