Taoism is a Chinese philosophy based on the writings of Lao-tzu.
The Tao-Te-Ching is the central Taoist text, ascribed to Lao-tzu, and apparently written as a guide for leaders, it defines Tao, or way, and established the philosophical basis of Taoism.
The Tao Te Ching, along with the Zhuangzi, is a fundamental text for both philosophical and religious Taoism.
