Launched in 2016, the Rolex Yacht Master with Dark Rhodium dial instantly propelled the Yacht Master into the ranks of the Rolex watches most desired by watch buyers and watch collections. With a combination of platinum bezel and stainless steel case, this Rolex sports watch is a legitimate rival to the Yacht Master 40mm and an unlikely show stealer among the Rolex Oyster timepieces.

The Yacht Master is Rolex's upscale cousin to the well known Rolex Submariner dive watch. Differences include full precious metal bezels (all but the Yacht Master Oysterflex), a 100-meter water resistant case, and a more graceful case profile than the Rolex Submariner, Sea Dweller, and Deepsea dive watches.

But the story of Baselworld 2016 was Rolex's inclusion of a new "dark rhodium" dial option. The sunburst grey dial features a darker and heavier galvanized transfer of the silver-grey material often used to coat brass bridges and plates of Swiss watch movements. A handfuls of well chosen cyan blue accents enliven the dial, and Rolex white gold is employed for hands and hour indices.

The Rolex Yacht Master bezel is composed of solid PT950 grade platinum. This bezel design is configured to rotate in bi-directional fashion for easy setting at the start of the countdown to a match within a regatta event for racing sailboats. All other components of the case, bracelet, and clasp are constructed from Rolex 904L stainless steel.

The Oyster bracelet and Oyster clasp of this Rolex 268622 are robust and suitable for active lifestyles on land or sea. The three-link bracelet design is substantial and sturdy; all removable links are fixed in place with screws. A steel folding clasp includes a clamshell lock and Rolex Easylink for security on the wrist and quick sizing adjustments, respectively.

The Rolex manufacture caliber 2236 is a COSC certified Swiss chronometer that also meets the standards of Rolex's fully cased "Superlative Chronometer" timing tolerances. The latter entails Rolex's attestation to a precision no worse than +/-2 seconds per 24 hours.

The Rolex caliber 2236 includes a 55 hour power reserve and Rolex's first use of a silicon hairspring for antimagnetic insurance; Rolex has dubbed the material Syloxi.

Rolex Paraflex shock protection is standard, and the caliber 2236 includes both a full balance bridge and free sprung balance for shock stability.

The Rolex Yacht Master is encased in stainless steel and platinum surrounding a dark rhodium dial on a stainless steel bracelet. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, and date. The watch measures 37mm in diameter, 10.8mm in thickness, and 43.6mm from lug-to-lug.
