"Mitt, mitt, mitt, mitt"
Kissed by the sea, in our salt pans you see,
Pearly white salt in heaps,
On ridges where the water doesn't seep.

With controlled ingress of saline sea waters;
With scorching sunlight
we produce the salt that matters.
Mitt, mitt, mitt, mitt.

With the 'Sallni' we draw it near;
And with the 'Paunni' we lift it, dear.
We fill the salt in bamboo baskets
And on the bund we make a heap!

The early salt from the pans is black or gray;
It helps cashew, coconut , mango trees to healthier stay.
Mitt, mitt, mitt, mitt.

This sustainable enterprise is our tradition;
The salt pan workers of Agarvaddo have preserved for generations.

Local salt is both tasty and healthy, akin;
We store it for the monsoons in a bamboo bin.
Yes, monsoon provision, the 'purument' is in.
Mitt, mitt, mitt, mitt!

NB.
"Mitt" means salt in the local Konkani language. It is the cry of the salesperson traveling on the bullock cart or motor vehicle with local salt along the bylanes.
