This tutorial covers cloning and it's biotechnologies in depth, and more specifically, at Batch & Continuous Culture. This video illustrates the importance of manipulating the growing conditions in batch and continuous fermentation, in order to maximise the yield of product required.
Batch Culture consists of 4 phases:
a) The Lag Phase
b) The Exponential Phase
c) The Stationary Phase
d) The Death Phase
In continuous culture, nutrients are added and products are removed at a constant rate; whereas in batch culture all the ingredients are added at the start and all the products are removed at the end.
This is for A-Level Biology OCR Students.
