Dutch Pour Technique - Let's Practice | Water and Acrylic Only

Описание: The only way to improve is to ..... practice. When it comes to fluid art, acrylic pouring or paint pouring in general, it can be overwhelming and unpredictable, not to mention expensive! Especially when you have an idea in your mind and you rush to mix your paint, prep the canvas and pour only to have made a mess and walk away discouraged and disappointed.

In today's video I'm going to try and prove out my idea on a small canvas before I take it to a big canvas. Even though the paint can be unpredictable there are a few things that a trial practice run can teach me before the daunting paint pour on a large canvas. Things such as colour mixing, composition, layering of paints and my eye hand coordination.

Now having made this piece, looking at it for a few days and reviewing the video I have some key takeaways that I can take to my larger dutch pour.

Key takeaways:
1) The gray dried way to dark, it looks like dry concrete.
2) The turquoise blue mixture was overpowering
3) There was to much paint on the canvas and I had to compromise the composition many times to remove it in order to avoid cracking and crazing
4) I should have used more of the metallic paint

My paints are all Amsterdam Acrylics Standard Series mixed with water to the right consistency which for this style of acrylic pouring is very thin, running off the stick and disappearing right away back into the paint.
