Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has strongly criticised the government’s push linking women’s reservation to delimitation, calling the process “deeply flawed and anti-democratic.” She said the 33% women’s reservation is already settled, and the real concern is the proposed delimitation exercise, which she warned could be “extremely dangerous” and an “assault on the Constitution.”

She accused the Centre of rushing major constitutional changes for “narrative management” and demanded wider consultation through an all-party meeting instead of fast-tracking decisions.

The remarks come ahead of a special Parliament session where the government plans to implement women’s reservation—likely from 2029—after delimitation and census processes are completed.
