Yesterday, it appeared that a possible mated pair of Red Tail Hawks were trying to move Jackie away from the Cactus Snag tree. They both attacked, one after the other, causing Jackie to leap wings out and talons ready, in defense. One even came back for a 4th attempt.

Then, she flew to the veranda on the lower level of the nest tree, before jumping up to the front porch to stand guard. Shadow was on Daddy duty, watching as the action unfolded.

Just another day of Raptor life around the neighbird-hood. Each pair is doing what they have to, to protect their young and each other. It's possible the Hawks have a nest with babies or they could have fledglings already out exploring. But the teamwork is always fascinating and impressive, whether it's the ravens, hawks, or our favorite eagles.
