Use Geotextile Mattress(ACEFormer™) to Protect Severely Eroded Riverbank

Описание: ACEFormer™ are two-layer and high-strength geotextile mattresses grouted with cement mortar or concrete for coastal erosion control, channel construction and pipeline protection. With the filling material, the ACEFormer™ system provides an effective shield and medium against erosion, and to reduce the wave energy and flow velocity on the applied surface.

In Irrawaddy River case, it is the largest and most vital commercial waterway in Myanmar where many villages live along its stream; however, the same villages are threatened by inundations every year’s rainy season.

Obstacles as followed:
1. A steep and long (about 30 m) riverbank slope needed protection from intensive erosion.
2. Erosion holes existed on the curved section of the riverbank.
3. The river’s deep water-level and strong currents increased construction difficulty.
4. The construction period was limited in three months and the budget was tight.
Stones and sandbags were placed to reinforce the site before, but in vain, the weak protection structure was torn down by strong floods again in 2018.

After careful assessment, ACEFormer™, geotextile mattresses filled with cement mortar, were applied. The ACEFormer™ enhances the overall structure’s stability and erosion control. From design to installation, our team is concerned with each and every single step. ACE successfully assisted the local contractor from structure design, to manufacturing customized mattresses to laying and filling the last one of them. The ACEFormer™ stood still and remained intact after several rainy season upon the project completion. An impossible mission in people’s eyes was just accomplished.
