কুম্ভমেলায় এই বছর সব থেকে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে মেলা পরিষ্কার রাখা। নানা পদক্ষেপ করা সত্ত্বেও গঙ্গা নদী ও যমুনা নদীর দূষণ আটকাতে ব্যর্থ হয়েছে সরকার। এমনকি প্রধানমন্ত্রীর নমামি গঙ্গা মিশনও গঙ্গার দূষণ রোধে ব্যর্থ প্রমাণিত। তাই এবার গঙ্গার দূষণ রোধে বিশেষ উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে উত্তরপ্রদেশ সরকার। সরকারি সূত্রে জানানো হয়েছে, প্রায় ২০ হাজার কর্মী সকাল থেকে রাত মেলা চত্বর স্বচ্ছ রাখতে কাজ করছেন, বায়ো টয়লেট এবং আবর্জনা জমা করার স্থান রাখা হয়েছে প্রতি জায়গায়।

This year, the biggest challenge in the Kumbh Mela is to keep the fair clean. Despite several steps, the government has failed to stop the pollution of the river Ganges and the Jamuna. Even the Prime Minister's Namami Ganga mission proved to be unsuccessful in preventing the pollution of the Ganges. So, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken special initiative to stop the pollution of the Ganga during Kumbh Mela. According to official sources, about 20,000 workers have been working from morning to night to keep the fair complex clean, and motivating people to use toilet. Bio-toilets and garbage storing baskets has been placed everywhere.
