Washington says the decision is about security, weak documentation systems, and visa overstays. But across Africa, many believe this move is about something much bigger.
These three countries are the backbone of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) — a new regional bloc that expelled foreign troops, cut military ties with Western powers, and openly chose a path of sovereignty and self-rule. Now, critics argue the travel ban looks less like immigration policy and more like political pressure.
