This guided meditation supports the practice of awareness and regulation.
The meditation centers on returning attention to the breath and staying present when attention wanders, sensations arise, or urges appear. Rather than trying to change experience, the practice emphasizes remaining present as internal states shift.
During the meditation, you’ll practice:
Returning attention to the breath
Noticing wandering and returning again
Staying present when urges arise
Allowing experience to change over time
This is a practice-based approach to regulation. Each time attention returns and presence is maintained during activation, the nervous system is learning something new.
You may wish to pause or repeat the meditation as needed.
