Experience the power and history of the U.S. Air Force at RIMPAC 2024, the world’s largest international maritime exercise. From July 22 to August 1, 2024, more than 200 Airmen and 10 A-10 Thunderbolt II, AKA “Warthogs” from the 924th Fighter Group of the 944th Fighter Wing conducted advanced training at Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
This exercise marks the final RIMPAC deployment for the 924th Fighter Group, which is set for deactivation in 2025. Hawaii holds significant historical importance for the 47th Fighter Squadron, tracing its lineage to Lieutenants Kenneth Taylor and George Welch, who famously defended Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, shooting down at least six Japanese aircraft.
RIMPAC 2024 provides a unique opportunity for US and allied forces to strengthen maritime security, cooperative military operations, and joint combat readiness across the Pacific. This year’s exercise demonstrates precision, teamwork, and the enduring legacy of American airpower in the Pacific region.
