This review highlights the Bühlmann Decompression 02, a highly specialized divers watch that fits into a niche sub-genre of extreme dive watches like the Omega Ploprof, Rolex Deepsea Challenge, IWC Deep One IW3527, and Blancpain X Fathoms. The Decompression 02 is the second watch from Bühlmann, brought to life by Thomas Bühlmann and Watch Angels, a Swiss watchmaking and manufacturing platform with a hybrid crowdfunding model. At the time of writing it was a 575 piece limited edition with deliveries in August 2027, placing it in the microbrand conversation even if the execution is anything but typical microbrand.

The core concept is a wrist-operable decompression planning interface: it integrates a ZH-L16B Bühlmann decompression calculator with 17 recreational dive profiles visible through a 6 o’clock aperture. You set the chosen depth and bottom-time profile using the bronze-capped 8mm screw-down crown at 1 o’clock, emphasizing planned execution rather than the dynamic adaptation of a dive computer. It also uses a Twin Safety Bezel system: an inner steel bezel for Total Dive Time and an outer black ceramic bezel for Decompression Stops, plus altitude table coverage for 0 to 700m ASL and a Fly-No-Fly reminder that returns to green after 24 hours via the Sellita SW300 date mechanism.

As a watch, it measures 46.25mm wide, about 48.5mm across the bezel, and 16.30mm thick, yet wears better than expected on a 6.75 inch wrist thanks to an asymmetric 5 degree incline, a hinged bullhead case, and an integrated rubber strap (26mm to 22mm). Water resistance is 575m, weight is 205g, build quality is excellent, bezels have no backplay, the SW300 ran about +5 spd, and lume is generous and highly legible.
