Aging population, chronic diseases and health systems under pressure require new answers to prevention and precision medicine. The NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology (NIMSB) will study high burden diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative and cardio metabolic diseases that have a huge cost for society.
Resulting from a partnership between NOVA University Lisbon and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine through its Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB, MDC), the NIMSB will contribute to the development of new diagnostics and therapies based on emerging biomedical and digital technologies. Moreover, it will bring to the Lisbon area a strong research focus in biomedicine.
